Notified body 2897

LOTRIČ Metrology is a Notified Body for certification of particle filtering masks with identification number 2897. You can find more information about legislation in NANDO database.

In our lab we ensure fast and reliable testing in accordance with EN149:2001+A1:2009. All tests are performed in brand new laboratory equipped with modern testing machines. Our lab has a very long tradition in the field of testing various materials, especially for the automotive industry.

FFP refers to Particle filtering face pieces which can be divided in three classes: FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. These masks are classified as personal protective equipment and are described in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation (EU) 2016/425, category III. For the category III conformity assessment shall be done with the manufacturer application to a Notified body for type examination (module B) and supervised product checks at random intervals (module C2) or quality assurance of the product process (module C2). The abbreviation R or NR is added after FFP1, FFP2, FFP3 and refers to Reusable or Non-Reusable. All required test methods are listed and described in the harmonized standard EN 149:2001+A1:2009. Some of them are:

  • the penetration test for the filter material with two aerosols, NaCl and paraffin oil,
  • the total inward leakage test,
  • the breathing resistance test (inhalation),
  • dolomite dust clogging test is obligatory for FFP masks with valve. We can offer this test optionally also for masks without valve.

Type examination certificate is an important part of CE marking. When FFP mask is complied with requirements of PPE Regulation and harmonized standard tests are passed, then manufacturer is allowed to mark the masks with CE mark and legally sell them on EU market.
